MEET

Dr. Karen Foster

Since the age of 8, I wanted to be a dentist. To further my dream, I worked in an orthodontist’s office in my teens. In 1997, I completed a Bachelor’s in Zoology at Texas Tech to meet the requirements for applying to dental school. After graduating from college, I worked as a dental assistant in first a general, then a pediatric office. I took another step toward fulfilling my dream when I was accepted into The Texas A&M University Health Science Center-Baylor College of Dentistry, completing my Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2002.

I entered dental school with an open mind, but felt I was best suited for pediatric dentistry. After four years of dental school, I enrolled in two additional years of specialized residency training in pediatric dentistry at The University of Texas-Houston Dental Branch, receiving my post graduate certificate in 2004. After residency, I found a practice opportunity in Grand Junction, CO – part time in a non-profit clinic and part time in a private practice as an associate. I worked there three years before opening Saddle Rock Pediatric Dentistry in Aurora in 2008.

I became a Diplomate, board certified, of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in 2007. In 2012, I was honored by being inducted as a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, followed by induction in the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists, all dental honoraries. In 2017, I was recognized as one of the Top 25 Women in Dentistry.

I attend American Dental Association meetings as a delegate from the Colorado Dental Association. I also serve on the executive board of the Colorado Dental Association, currently as President. I am a member of the Metropolitan Denver Dental Society, formerly on the board. I’m a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and a member of the Colorado Association of Pediatric Dentistry as well as a graduate of the Academy of Laser Dentistry.

I am grateful for the success of the practice; I appreciate recognition as a 5280 Top Dentist since 2014. I really like getting to know our patients and families. Since I enjoy traveling, I love to hear about your trips and adventures. When I am not visiting family or participating in organized dentistry, I take orders from my black lab, McKinley.
