Meet Dr. Karen Foster

Dr. Karen Foster

Since the age of 8, I wanted to be a dentist. In 1997, I completed a Bachelor’s in Zoology at Texas Tech in order to apply to dental school. After graduating from college, I worked as a dental assistant in first a general, then a pediatric office. I took another step toward fulfilling my dream by attending The Texas A&M University Health Science Center-Baylor College of Dentistry, completing my DDS in 2002.

I entered dental school with an open mind, but felt I was best suited for pediatric dentistry. After four years of dental school, I enrolled in two additional years of specialized residency training in pediatric dentistry at The University of Texas-Houston Dental Branch, receiving my post graduate certificate in 2004. After residency, I found a practice opportunity in Grand Junction, CO where I worked three years before opening Saddle Rock Pediatric Dentistry in 2008.

I became a Diplomate (board certified) of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in 2007. In 2012, I was honored to be inducted as a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the International Dental honorary, and more recently, I was inducted in the International College of Dentists. I am humbled to be chosen by peers as a 5280 Top Dentist.

I'm a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and a member of the Colorado Association of Pediatric Dentistry as well as a graduate of the Academy of Laser Dentistry. As 1st Vice-president of the Colorado Dental Association, I attend annual American Dental Association meetings as a delegate.

In addition, I treat patients at Children's Hospital Colorado and I teach for the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine as a Clinical Associate Professor. I enjoy being an active member of our community and supporting Give Kids a Smile each February.

I am grateful for the success of the practice. I really enjoy getting to know all of our patients and families. I love to hear about your trips and adventures since I also enjoy traveling. When I am not visiting family or participating in organized dentistry, I can be found in Aurora where I live with my elderly cat, Baxter, and black lab, McKinley.

For three years running, 5820 has named Saddle Rock Pediatric Dentistry a Top Dentist! Congratulations to Dr. Foster for her dedication to our patients and families. You are much appreciated!
